I do not think I have seen a takeover target EVER lower than what the current price is! Not being greedy mid to upper 20's is a fair offer considering what some companies have paid cash for with (i.e. Argon, Castle) little to no customers or products.

As a side note, I definitely fell out of my chair with Jach's Yahoo potential buyout of Fore. Yeah...I heard yahoo may buy General Motors so they can really NOT focus on their core competencies!

I think the British papers are repeating the rumor that first appeared on CNBC, or maybe they a know a little more. To me it is obvious that the figure mentioned is the current valuation of FORE and not the price GEC would offer in a merger.

Also, don't confuse GEC with GE.

TO me it is a little disconcerting that so many suitors are rumored. With Xylan, it was pretty much Alcatel all the way through.
