DAR ES SALAAM (April 5) XINHUA - The initial mining operations of
Tanzania's largest gold mine will start in August next year, a
Tanzanian national newspaper reported Monday.

The Bulyanhulu Gold Mines in Kahama District of the western Region of
Shinyanga is also the largest gold deposit in east Africa, the Daily
Mail said.

"Bulyanhulu is envisaged to produce in excess of 300,000 ounces of gold
per year," Bill Bali, the Kahama Mining Corporation Limited resident
director was quoted as saying.

Bali said that about 45 percent of underground designed work of the
mine has been completed and site earth work contract is proceeding on
schedule.

Kahama Mining, a subsidiary of a Canadian-based Sutton Resources
Limited, owns the Bulyanhulu Mines.

Money for completion of construction work will be made available by a
new parent company, the Barrick Gold Corporation, said Bali.

He said that as a leading international gold producer with extensive
mine development experience and operational expertise, the Barrick Gold
will assure the successful development of Bulyanhulu. Enditem
