The beauty of eBay is, they get a sign up fee with everything that's put on sale, then a close fee, if it finally sells. Otherwise it causes eBay almost nothing. Your understanding is accurate. I see the problem of people paying a fee to list and never obtaining a buyer. Eventually, they stop paying to list anything and the business not only ceases to grow, but shrinks.
