I have been sipping a wonderful California merlot, and find myself too befuddled to engage in any serious thought. I am now engaged in Schubert impromptus. Perfect for a lazy Sunday evening.

Later, when my head clears a bit I think I will read some James Joyce. I haven't read the Dubliners in years. Somehow I find it comforting right now.

I suspect that the mutual nature of these attractions is largely a matter of the perception of the two parties at the time in question. The human capacity for self-delusion is nearly infinite. The human capacity for sustaining self-delusion is, perhaps unfortunately, a good deal more limited.
