"I wouldn't join a club that would have me for a member"?

There might be an element of that involved, though that assumes that the aversion is a consequence of the adoration, which is not always the case. For reasons I do not entirely understand, I've always tended to get a lot of attention, sometimes approaching adoration, from weak-willed women, a type which I find most uninteresting. I would certainly have to question the mental competence of any woman capable of enough self-deception to permit her to adore me.

The question assumed that the adoration would be pleasing.

Probably one reason why I couldn't answer it. I keep cats in preference to dogs largely because adoration makes me uneasy.

the question, to put it bluntly, was, would you rather f*** a woman whom you adore, but only loves you, or a woman who adores you, but you only love.

Either would be nice, and certainly a pleasant change. Since we are before the hypothetical fact I would choose the former, despite knowing perfectly well that I would feel otherwise after the fact. Being male, you see, I am congenitally incapable of allowing "after the fact" to enter into these calculations.
