Yes, AOL might be in deals for broadband but what do they bring to the table? @Home has an interface, but the first thing I did was disable it so that it's just an IP connection when I open my browser.

And if somebody goes to the extremes to get DSL, why would they want to use the AOL interface? Ok, maybe buddy chat and some content, but that is a pretty shaky foundation IMO. These functions can be found elsewhere on the net for free.

But if you argue that the general populace is ignorant and has to be led around by the nose because they are too stupid and lazy to figure out how things work, and need the brand name AOL to feel secure, then you might have a point!
