Ibnbatutaa, T-1 is a dedicated line with a 1.54 mbps rating. There is not a dedicated service using cable modems,it varies since it is one an ethernet network. HFC and cable do not go to businesses, and this service is almost exclusively home use(who knows about the future). I have talked with some execs and they said no way they would use HFC,fiber optics even if they could get it. It is way too unreliable for business use. That is why ATHM has a division promoting xDSL to businesses. The price difference is enormous, but should come down alot. A dedicated T-1 is somewhere around $800/month,with fractional T-1 lines lesss than that. Most businesses use some sort of Frame Relay, with guaranteed levels of bandwidth, which is much cheaper. Apartmens and MDU's are the battleground between xDSL and cable. They are both going at it heavily.
