Right on the money there Bargain. I would just add one more item here:
"The key for this thread is to understand both the power and the limits of MSFT's monopoly. Many people regard them as a huge threat because they 'always win'."

I don't see a Microsoft "win" in this space. My point from the beginning is that they are a player - good, bad or indifferent. How successful they will be is anybody's guess, but they will take some share.

"Their best bet in the embedded space is with PC-like devices running WinCE where there is also a potential packaged software business."

I think that is exactly where they are nosing in. How far they can push, time will tell.
