I probably won't be posting predictions for 2000 until we get quite a bit closer. There are just too many different possibilities, particularly with choices that Iomega could take, and any predictions that far out would really just be guesses. (For instance, would Iomega keep prices as high as possible and restrict growth, or drop prices as fast as possible to promote growth? What new products will come out, and how will they be perceived? How will Clik! do?)

Sony to Start Selling Music Downloads May 12...

And MINIDISK is the storage format!

nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com

Sony is introducing a broadband satellite system and new set-top box that can be connected via iLink (Firewire) to a Sony Minidisk deck for recording music downloads.

I warned everyone here that Sony would jump the gun on the entire industry, and now it is happening. Minidisk is a safe and reliable method of storage for music, as there is NO danger of a head crash since Minidisk uses M/O technology.

Clearly Sony is pushing Minidisk as the future for Music downloads. And with 120MB Minidisk Audio blank disks selling for $6 or less, it looks like it could be a winner.
