True. They should be kept separate.

However, it looks like they have been making a killing on the stock buybacks. These are more massive than the ESOP.

Another topic which I think has been neglected is the potential for DELL to increase its competitive position by further reductions in SG&A and COGS. This is an extremely important issue. This will determine IMO the value of DELL stock in the coming year.

I think the economies of scale that they are getting from their rapid increases in unit sales should begin to show up in their COGS. The IBM royalties, MSFT licenses and component costs should be of considerable benefit this year.

If they hold their SG&A flat and their R&D flat they should be able to optimize the throughput of their factories and trade off the margins against volume.

If they do this then all they need to do this year is grow revenues by 40-50% and the stock will have excellent appreciation.

Regards,

Jim Kelley

Member Management

Dear Jill and Silicon Investor Management,

Throughout the years we've been SI members, we have often applauded your policy and decisions about how to control the postings and posters on your many threads. We have even applied to you upon occasion to nudge some member into a less offensive mode of posting.

However, you have just blundered, and badly! We understand that Dr. Paul Levy, who posts under the name "Chuzzlewit", has been suspended. Further, we understand that the action was taken in response to his posting a factual article with full credit attributed to a reputable news agency, Reuters. Moreover, Dr. Levy is himself a corporate financial analyst, and as such, should be much better able to expertly evaluate the proposed change in accounting rules than the average poster. He posted a factual article directly in the field of his particular expertise from a reputable news source.

We have found Dr. Levy's posts to be so valuable, that he is one of a few posters we have bookmarked to read everything he writes. His posts are logical, thoughtful, factual, unbiased, and, without exception, polite. They are characterized by an astounding depth and breadth of specific, as well as general knowledge, accented with compassion and humor. He is the epitome of the type of poster which distinguishes Silicon Investor from other investment fora.

We can only presume that you at Silicon Investor were subjected to strong pressure from some of your advertisers or from corporate sponsors to take some action against Dr. Levy. IMO that speaks volumes about your value as an independent arbitrator, and the integrity of your operation.

Please rescind your suspension of Dr. Levy immediately. We do not wish to be deprived of his input, and we would like to have our faith in Silicon Investor restored.

Very sincerely Yours,

J. Bachman Nabors, III

Been on here almost since the inception...didn't join immediately but followed it (lurked) daily...remember fondly when you could read all 50 daily messages in a blink....SI is worth a fortune...The garbage that sometimes comes on this thread is appalling...but, nowhere near as upsetting as knowing Paul was tossed for that!!! Bachman; Thanks once again for letting all of us know why the integrity of this thread is so important...I've made a few dollars trusting folks just like you...

Best, Kemble
