Television's NTSC vs. PAL controversy a good analogy and yes, now that software's the key, we won't be stuck with a turkey.

Problems with lack of MP3 security are being worked out. Look for major developments in a few months. Streaming limitations a different problem, may take a while.

RNWK not in jeopardy because it can support open formats (another one called AAC is in development). Player side doesn't matter at all, as long as it covers all of the bases. Server side can be a suite, and RNWK can support and add value to MP3. Keeping control of the desktop is key.

BAM
