This is in response to two posts and I hope it is not confusing. Anthony Burgess? Hey, CB, don't you know that having something great can make you long for more? No man (or woman) is perfect. Seeing the wonderful virtues in one's spouse doesn't mean that you don't wish for other attributes. Friends help us fulfill some of our other longings. I first read Ulysses in high school. I was lucky enough to have a major-league grounding in mythology and lots of weird interests to help me get through. Easier to read now. How could anyone not fall in love with Molly?
