Has anybody considered that VLSI management really wants to remain independent and is just using the takeover play to get their stock up to where they think it should be anyway? I personally don't think VLSI will accept any offer below 30 and I seriously doubt if any company would pay that much for them at this particular time. My personal belief is that VLSI is purposely stalling Philips while talking to other potential suitors, leaking news out to the market, and letting their stock rally to where they think it should be anyway. At the same time, their fundamentals are improving and the stock will rally on it's own and have good support whether or not a takeover ever happens, after they start reporting better earnings and forward looking statements. I know this might sound far-fetched, but I think it's a very plausible scenario. I still think that VLSI is an excellent hold, but not based on a takeover.

Best of luck to all who are holding.
