Great article. The usual divergence between the concept of a new technology, and the reality of actual implemention. And I will agree that if the cable goes down, and you attempt to call customer service you'll be on hold a very very long time before you get through. And the communication between @Home and the local cable company is not good, neither necessarily knows what the other is up to with regards to down lines, repairs, etc.

I guess part of the remarkable speed I experience here in the Chicago area is due to the fact I'm one of the few on a new node! I'm fortunate enough to not be sharing bandwidth with very many people. It'll be interesting how the performance changes as more people are added in my area. Net speed may diminish as you seem to be experiencing in CT.
