Elmer,

when will they post a profit?

Good question. Intel has been able to choke off K6-2 profitability through their market segmentation strategy. It seems like AMD's profitability is dependent on a timely K7 delivery and/or a rapid ramp of K6-III at 450+ MHz.

I'm totally baffled why the Intel market segmentation strategy has:
1) worked
and
2) been permitted by the FTC

Intel is shipping essentially the same product at widely varying price points.

Mr. Fudd...
<< So when will they post a profit? >>

According to my (heretofore totally infallible) crystal ball, chicken bones, and trained dog (he throws darts):

2Q99 break even or small profit.
3Q99 better profit.
4Q99 humungous profit on K6-2, K6-III, K7.

AMD up.
INTC down...you tell me, what're they gonna do with all those fabs when this MPU market gets way-over-saturated with supply (newcomers and .18u)?
