O.T. - Financial Times (of London) comment on AOL a few days ago.

I happened to be looking at the Financial Times (only because the WSJ would not "load" on my computer right then), and they (FT) had a piece discussing AOL's recent stock price surge.

The thing I thought was interesting (and possibly relevant to our favorite stock at some point in the future) was ... they said some people have wondered if part of the recent (ridiculous) jump in AOL was due to the fact that AOL's market capitalization (and number of shares that are freely tradable (i.e. -- not still insider, restricted shares)) is now sooooo huge that anyone and everyone can buy it as a way to "have a bet" on the Internet.

I think there is (unfortunately) something to this. No one could easily put $200 million in QCOM this morning; but, I guess they really might be able to do it with AOL !

Jon.

Depends on how you read your TA. For example, both the market and QCOM showed glaring positive divergence on 10/8 versus 8/31, indicating a powerful move ahead. When QCOM exhausted the first thrust at 58.31 on 11/2,and took that out on 1/6 at 59.44, a new era had begun. That may have been the start of the short covering. The April figure will be interesting.
