Just a side note on the sale. I have a relative who just got out of the division that was sold. Some of the people there were within 6 months of having the last 40% of their options vested, and have been told they will lose them now. Ericson has no options and a stock that is flat.

When you combine that with the fact that they are now working for a company that they all hated a month ago, it is a real explosive situation. These are not hourly employees, but high paid, high tech people that know the CDMA system and will be very hard to replace if they leave.

I suspect that there will be a class action suit that will be settled by Q to make sure the deal goes though.

From what I can see of the margins in the phone business, I hope they sell that also.

quite a divergence bw FAC and CSFB earnings which looks positive:

On 3/30 CSFB upped estimate to $3.50 a share for next year. Now, five days later, FAC is uping their estimate to $4.44. Someone added addtl. data in the past few days, so it appears.

-- ...analyst Raj Srikanth said would not be surprised to see Qualcomm divest its handset business.

Anyone care to speculate on Srikanth statement?

The word in Building K is that the handset division is
in pretty bad shape too.

Nokia persons were seen wandering around QCOM HQ (back in February). At the time I thought that Nokia were shopping for the Infra business, in competition with ERICY.
