U.S. OPTIONS/Fore vols jump on continued bid talk
CHICAGO, April 5 (Reuters) - Implied volatility on Fore Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:FORE - news) options jumped further on Monday amid continued bid talk, traders said.

Implied volatility, a key factor in determining options prices, climbed as high as 117 percent for the April 22-1/2 contracts on above-average trading volume.

''Vols are about as high as they've been,'' said Paul Foster, investment strategist and editor of 1010WallStreet.com, noting that options volatility has been on the rise for weeks on speculation that the network products manufacturer was the subject of a takeover.

''Fore has got transfer technology that someone might want,'' he said. ''But these technology companies are hard to peg.''

Larry McMillan, president of options advisory group McMillan Analysis, noted that the options have been active for several sessions on the speculation. He noted that Friday's options trading volume was more than twice its average daily volume.

The Warrendale, Pa.-based company declined to comment.

Newspaper reports from London said Fore was a likely target of Britain's General Electric Co. Plc (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: GEC.L).

Fore stock was up 1-1/8 to 21-11/16.
