Inacom Awarded Authorization to Assemble Lucent Technologies Communications Servers

Business Wire - April 05, 1999 14:09
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1999--Inacom Corp. (NYSE:ICO), a global Fortune 500 technology services leader, today announced that it has been authorized by Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) to perform final assembly, configuration and testing procedures on Lucent Technologies' DEFINITY(R) ProLogix(TM) communications servers. The authorization was awarded to Inacom's communications and convergence division, Inacom Communications.
"This stamp of approval from Lucent Technologies further solidifies Inacom's commitment to provide the most reliable and advanced distributed technology infrastructure solutions to our clients," said George De Sola, group executive, technology services, Inacom Corporation. "More and more, infrastructure solutions incorporate convergence technology. Our 12-year history in communications technology and services, coupled with our experience in the distributed computing environment, puts Inacom in the very best position to bring technologies together as effective client solutions."
Under the program, Lucent will supply Inacom with DEFINITY ProLogix servers with basic configuration. Inacom will then perform final assembly processes at its Manufacturing and Customization Center in Omaha, Nebraska, according to each client's specific requirements. Assembly, shipment and installation of the servers is already underway.
"Inacom Communications is well-known for its expertise in convergence technology," said Edison Peres, vice president of distribution development and management, Lucent Technologies. "With their readiness, capabilities and quality assurance, we are pleased to authorize them for assembly of our DEFINITY ProLogix servers."
"Lucent's technology leadership, coupled with Inacom's technology services focus, provides unparalleled competitive distinction and advantage to our clients. Expanding Inacom's services to include assembly of the Lucent communication and application servers is key to our technology services strategy. Our clients' expectations are growing. They are seeking greater customization and "just-in-time" delivery of their communications and convergence solutions. This service will deliver high quality, specially configured communications servers to our clients and reduce the time to market by up to 80 percent," said Paul Reitmeier, president, Inacom Communications. "This is the first step in the evolution of Inacom's Manufacturing and Customization Centers to fully support the increasing levels of convergence in applications and their associated platforms for our clients."
The DEFINITY ProLogix is a scaleable communications server for branch office and mid-sized businesses that want to start small and grow their communications capabilities easily and affordably. The server supports customers with 40 to 500 users with as many as 600 ports. For clients who outgrow their DEFINITY ProLogix Solutions, they can easily upgrade to the DEFINITY ECS, or the Enterprise Communications Server.
