in the computer business, price has much to do with margins. same with autos. the high priced cars have a higher margin, as do high end pc's have a higher margin over sub 1k pc's. this is how intc, dell, and others have maintained profits, selling more. units shipped keep increasing, although prices drop. with the price drops, so do the margins drop, but increased sales, overcome the margin drop.

you are correct, cpu is not alone in facing this problem.

nice insite on the cc stores will do for the sss growth in a year. please do not post this again, some analyst will catch on and discount it when sss increase.
