Herc,

Did CPU allow you to check out the actual laptop you were buying (to make sure it worked and you didn't have any bad pixels), or did you just check out the copy on the floor, and then get one in a sealed box?

I recently returned a laptop that I mail-ordered from another vendor, after it basically died immediately upon receipt with a combination of software and hardware problems. Eventually I'll be interested in buying a laptop, and now feel that I'd rather spend more money and be assured that the thing actually works, and that if I do have trouble within a few days, that I can exchange it with a minimum of hassle.
