>I can't figure out how they're going to get these out. Very easily.<

At the insurance counter they have this little thingie behind the cash register. Same gizmo the clothes stores use to remove that paint tag that deters shoplifters. Ka-chunk! Thank you - come again.

<<There are rungs, each a quarter inch wide - ten of them. They poke above the skin surface about 1/8th inch, like the letter n. It's become impossible, as it's healed now, not to run yer fingers over it, like body braille. They're quite stiff. >>

Neat. If it hurts to rip them out will you tell us?

<<Damn! Occurs to me the tool might get them out ASAP, but was probably not designed with absence of pain in mind. >>

Cost effective son. Your pain or their money? Which counts? Bite the bullet, the doc needs a new BMW, his is 3 months old.

A lot of time surgeons let the young'uns finish closing at the skin level. The real skill is closing inside, and once they finish, and get to the fascia, or to the integument, it's just routine.

I had the same kind of staple after my hernia repair. They were really bugging me, so I didn't wait for the appointment, I took them out with wire cutters. My sister (the nurse) was bringing me a surgical staple remover, after work, but I didn't wait, and she still teases me about it.

>>I just figured they delegate that sort of thing. I was impressed with it, but it never occurred to me he mighta done it himself.<<

Never ask a surgeon who sewed his stitches for him. Bad form, even if true. I know quite a few docs who would puke in your wound for saying such a thing.
