LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Maverick Recording Co. has teamed up with Warner Bros. Online and e-retailer Outpost.com to create an online campaign featuring an Internet-exclusive contest and promotion for the soundtrack to Warner Bros. futuristic action-thriller, "The Matrix."
Kicking off with Marilyn Manson's "Rock Is Dead," the soundtrack includes songs from Prodigy, Deftones, Rage Against The Machine, Rob Zombie, and Ministry, and will be released on March 30.
The online campaign, which was developed by Maverick, launches March 19 and will run for three weeks. The campaign will include a contest featuring $5000 worth of prizes provided by the participating sponsor, Outpost.com (www.outpost.com), a leading global Internet retailer of computer hardware, software, and accessories. The contest can be found at www.intothematrixmusic.com. The Grand Prize is a Toshiba laptop computer; First Prize is a Sony Digital Camera, and other prizes include software, copies of the soundtrack, and posters. Through e-mail notification and Maverick's outreach effort to thousands of band-related Web sites, fans will be given the opportunity to enter the contest. Maverick has also created vibrant, animated banners featuring each band's logo, which users may copy to their own Web sites or pages.
In addition, fans without dedicated sites or those who would like to create additional sites for the featured bands, will be invited to do so in Warner Bros. Online community network, Acme City (www.acmecity.com). These fans will have the opportunity to build a free home page in Acme City's music area and have their site judged. The winning page will be featured as "Fan site of the month," and awarded a copy of the soundtrack.
"Many of these bands have 300-400 'fan' sites," says Jeremy Welt, head of new media at Maverick. "Offering these valuable prizes and free logos is a great way to pay back the fans who've created those sites for free."
As part of the promotion, fans will also be invited to join the Outpost.com's Affiliate Network. Those who choose to join the network and generate sales through these links will receive a percentage of the revenue generated.
