One of the only decent posters on the Cymer Yahoo board:

than I realized. A couple months ago I mentioned to you folks that our Japanese partners are dropping cymer in favor of
komatsu, their laser is apparently much less expensive to operate and has no bearing replacement issue what so ever.

Komatsu will not be coming to USA; cost to start support organization to expensive vs rewards.

for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the other vendor that has been in testing by our European counterparts ( I want to say lambda but not sure ); net is they're dropping cymer also. our new high NA 248's will be cymer
but apparently the cost of ownership is so dramatically less, there is serious talk of replacing our cymers ( both installed and on order ) by end of 2000.

will keep you posted, our partners are some of the biggest users in DUV so the implications to cymer could be painful.

Note that he has complained about Cymer reliability, especially wrt bearings for the last 6 to 9 months. I tried asking Cymer IR about this a while ago and never got a clear answer. Never a good sign, although not an absolute verification.
