All I can tell you is you're not making the greatest decision.

I thought along the same lines you listed 1.5 years ago, and so far, my money has been sitting exactly where it has been back then.

This is a sorry ass stock, with sorry ass management.

I just heard from a friend that works there that they had a company wide survey (about how happy employees are with the way the company has been run in the past 2 years) a couple of weeks ago, and the outcome was, while not as shitty as the management is, it was shitty enough.

Stay away, this is a disgruntled shareholder's opinion.

Hard to see it going much lower

Still, would rather own something else if you are interested in long-term appreciation. Pity is a terrible reason to buy a stock.

Everybody is thoroughly disgusted with the way things have been going with this stock and company for the last two years.
Stockholders have been losing patience, including me.
See my previous post from about 6:00 pm.
Everyone says this stock is going nowhere.

In other words, there is a fair to good chance that now is the time to buy. With so many people feeling as bad about a stock as they do now, most of the damage has already been done. The risk of further declines is reduced and the upside potential increases.

If I was not so thoroughly disgusted with the way things have been going for the last year and a half, then I would probably buy more.

Hopefully in six months I will be kicking myself for not buying more now.

Francis: here is one reason I would buy COMPAQ now. It's P/E to
growth ratio [a ratio which explains very much the rationale behind
"high valuations" in technology] is one of the lowest (if not the lowest) in its sector, in fact I cannot find a more attractive stock on this basis on the entire technology universe. The comparisons follow (based on yesterday's closing prices and IBES consensus earnings forecasts for '99 and '00):
CPQ: 0.48
GTW: 0.85
DELL: 1.33
INTC: 1.34
TXN: 1.35
IBM: 1.46
HWP: 1.54
COMS: 2.49
AAPL: 2.66
