Gary, one of the way Cisco is getting more revenue from
carrier space is their good old enterprise customers
are outsourcing to Service Providers, and Cisco is
classifying those revenue in Carrier segment & saying
growth is slowing in enterprise. Will be more clear
in coming quarters.

Gary,

My point was not about ASND vs CSCO. My point is that ASND's core ATM switching revenues were not declining and being displaced by IP in the core but are actually increasing (while CSCO's core switch router is delayed, as you might expect with an in-grown CSCO product). They announced to customers last year that it would be ready Q1 1999 and now it "might" be ready for Q3 (based on calander year). There are obviously a couple of companies that are doing coast to coast IP (Frontier, Qwest..big customer of ASND) but they are betting heavily on products and services a couple of years out.

I did read the quarterly report for CSCO and they do say that they saw 50% growth, but they should see this because they are selling the routers.

CSCO management quoted 50% growth in their carrier business.

Yeah, and if they can go from 1% to 2% of gross they can claim 100% growth and they're REALLY kicking ASND's butt! <g>

Yeah, OG, we do like HARD info on the competition but number games dont cut it here. Try the NN thread, they're more gullable.<g>

GO ASND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
