HUSSEIN GETTING A BREAK FROM KOSOVO? Excerpts from Neal's News by Neal Boortz 4-5-99 Here is further evidence of the degree to which the U.S. military has been weakened under the regime of Bill "loathe the military" Clinton. Remember the "no fly' zone in Iraq? Do you remember the missions the U.S. military would fly over Iraq to make sure that Saddam Hussein wasn't lobbing bombs on his Kurdish adversaries to the north? Oh – and do you remember the attacks our jets were making on Iraqi anti-aircraft batteries? Well, the last American jet fighter flew over Iraq on March 20th. Since that time Hussein has been free of any interference with the movement of his military aircraft. March 20th was four days before the attacks on Yugoslavia began. Those planes that were trying to hold Hussein in check were needed to slow Milosevic down. There just weren't enough to go around. So, what are the long-term consequences of easing up the pressure on Saddam Hussein?BALKAN REFUGEES ON THE WAY? Who knows how far this one is going to go .... but as of right now we are saying that the U.S. will accept about 20,000 Albanian refugees. There are rumors that they will housed at the Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba until – as they say -- they can return home. One problem here. Those refugees won't be allowed to return home until Milosevic and his cronies are out – gone – toast. And that is going to take ground troops.WHAT THE HELL IS A "PERMISSIVE ENVIRONMENT" Clinton is starting to hedge on the issue of ground troops into. Now his Secretary of State says that NATO may change its policy on ground troops if the bombing creates a "permissive environment." No explanation as to just what this means. This should give Clinton all the wiggle room he needs.CLINTON DIDN'T LISTEN TO HIS MILITARY ADVISORS Clinton has known all along that sooner or later ground troops would have to be sent into Kosovo and Yugoslavia. The Washington Post is reporting this morning that the Joint Chiefs of Staff warned Clinton – weeks in advance – that a bombing campaign would not achieve its political goals. One senior officer is reported to have said "I think it's safe to say that I don't think anybody felt like there had been a compelling argument made that all of this was in our national interest." Maybe not --- but it seems to have been in Clinton's interest, at least so far. When is the last time you heard anything about his China problems, or Juanita Broaddrick? The Drudge Report says that Senior NATO officers have drawn up a plan for an opposed entry by ground troops into Kosovo. The plan would involve 100,000-125,000 troops led by heavy armor and supported by mechanized infantry and attack helicopters. The U.S. announced yesterday that a covey of Blackhawk attack helicopters is being sent to the Balkans. Sort of adds up, doesn't it? If we are intent on stopping Milosevic, and if we want to help the displaced ethnic Albanians to return to their homes, ground troops will be an absolute NECESSITY. What, my friends, has Clinton got us into now? Click Here for the Story.AND SPEAKING OF JUANITA Well … I guess the Juanita Broaddrick rape story has all but disappeared. That will happen, I suppose, when you bomb the hell out of people. Just so that you don't forget, though …. Bill Clinton has yet to deny the rape. Just how many of you would ignore a credible allegation of rape IF you were innocent?boortz.com
