<<For those of you that believe board members resigning is a good sign, I suggest you stick to investing in mutual funds>>

Thanks for the suggestion, R, but I've done quite well on my own, thanks.

<<When major board members resign, it is usually a very bad sign>>

Sometimes; although the article I posted from said Mr. Bayless and Mr. Higgerson are "stepping down". This could mean various things. I'm personally familiar with, and have been associated with, several boards where a change in the composition of the board took place to better prepare for a change in the strategic direction of the company. The new members brought in specific expertice relative to the new lines, or direction, of the business. The board members stepping down were more than willing to facilitate the transition. They generally kept their shares as they recognized the potential of the change in business and the new leadership at the board level.

I don't know enough about the details to know if this is or is not what is happening at Cien. It does not strike me as too unusual that two of the original VC's behind Cien are "stepping down" from the board.

It could be a bad sign and I'd sure appreciated any additional information you have about the circumstances surrounding this change in Cien's B of D's.

Thanks. ...Tim
