MSN is surprisingly inept at putting a marketing package together for that is the real nut of MSFT.

I agree entirely. Even though they've recently done a better job with their web sites than they're given credit for, the overall history of MSN is one of incredible missteps. It's still not clear why Microsoft keeps the access/ISP portion of the business, but it is clear that AOL has nothing to fear from it.

But what AOL does have to worry about is the folks with the wires into houses and business. AOL doesn't have any. And despite some agreements, they're way behind on jumping onto the broadband wagon. I'm not confident that they'll be able to grab a good ride.
