YZ, Definitely Dell is one of the major marketing "partners." And why not? At least, why not in the past? Now, playing kissy-face with Intel means your boxes are overpriced.

I don't know if the FTC would have a case or not. The "Intel Inside" scam is basically a price cut for those who sell the most Intel based products. True, it doesn't come out of revenues, so those are phony, but that is an SEC concern. Maybe the fact that not all vendors get the preferential treatment is a problem, but, logically, not legally, I don't see why Intel shouldn't reward brand loyalty.

I guess the question is, is it unfair competition for other chippies? That is beyond my expertise. All marketing is designed to take a competitive advantage, so knowing where the line should be drawn can be sticky.
