Frank,

If the The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium supports tdma for 3G, does that mean the battle in which victory has been claimed for cdma is still being waged?

As I understand it, TDMA will be one of three options that will probably be proposed for inclusion in the 3G standard. The whole point is that if everyone can approve of a standard that supports all three modes, all the handsets will have the three modes built into them. I, the user of the handset, will be able to roam from cell network to cell network so long as the network uses one of the three modes. I, the infrastructure manufacturer, will gain from the sale of any handset so long as it contains the three modes because my infrastructure will support one of them. Using that approach limits the risk of all parties and will help grow the market.

Someone please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
