Boston-based Fidelity Investment's near $90 billion Magellan Fund, the
biggest U.S. mutual fund, returned 7.39% as of March 31, compared
with 4.36% for the average growth fund.

Magellan portfolio manager Robert Stansky has prolonged his winning
streak against the S&P: he delivered a 33.6% total return in 1998, more
than five percentage points ahead of the S&P 500's gain. He has been
beating the S&P for the past five quarters.
