Jim, Intel has about a 90% Outstanding Vendor Approval rating over the past few years. NINETY PERCENT! Amongst other things, including ability to meet production schedules, a big part of this is the Q and A Intel builds into their products. I guess if your an AMD (read Tier 2 supplier?) , you don't have to worry about such things."

Intel achieves the highest performance in x86 CPUs WITHOUT compromising quality, reliability or availability.

Jacking Up the voltage also CRANKS UP THE POWER dissipation, because POWER scales with the SQUARE of the operating voltage (V^2).

Further, gate dielectric breakdown scales EXPONENTIALLY with the voltage ACROSS the gate dielectric.

AMD is just whipping up a potential latent disaster in a DESPERATE attempt to stave off technological obsolescence.

High Vcc plus HIGH heat = LONG TERM PROBLEMS !

And AMD has enough problems already.

Intel doesn't need them.

Just wait until the 2.5 volt Kmart 7 is "launched" with a 45 watt power dissipation.
