Perhaps succinctness overdone, but the answers seemed a bit obvious. What have we lost since the age when we married kids off at 14? The notion that life is life and you just have to endure whatever it brings. We've gained a whole range of choices and decisions, which obviously brings with it the possibility of erroneous choices and decisions; I don't think that's a reason to try to go backwards.

To return to the days of arranged marriages at 14 - which according to the biological clock is just about the right time - we would have to simplify society to the point where a teenager could have a reasonable chance at successful parenthood; it seems to me obvious that this is not going to happen.
