Tried another order ar 9:58 still trying to cancel, shows cancelling day. This is the worst problem you can have. If the stock you wanted reverses you will be filled as it goes down due to inability to cancel. If this continues people will lose big bucks. order just cancelled after 8 min.

Bill, What's the symbol? NYSE or Nasdaq? I have been getting almost instant CANCELED lately on the Nasdaq although I haven't been trading at market open lately. If CANCEL's were taking 7-8 minutes regularly - I'd have been GONE from Datek along time ago! Any broker that can't, or refuses to, CONFIRM cancels within 5 minutes of your entry time - should be defrocked of their bogus broker-dealer license!! <g> I beleive the MM has to submit a fill or kill answer within 90 seconds of receiving your CANCEL. If the client's broker-dealer is NOT forwarding this info immediately to their client than they are probably engaging in attempted FRAUD!! They know that if they only steal a few $100 bucks that you will probably NOT get involved with arbitration and the long Nasdaq/SEC hassells(sp?). NYSE always takes longer to CANCEL, no matter what time of day, in my experience. n
