I would be honored to be considered even similar to the most verbally rich visionary ever to grace this thread but I'm afraid I couldn't even begin to fill his shoes.

Digital Cinema:

But... what is in it for the much larger support network already established for the print films? Production and transport people would vanish with digital.

Yes they would vanish just like there are lots of tire shops and not too many farriers last time I needed new treads for my trusty steed. They money that was flowing this way would then flow toward the Q. I don't know how much but when you add up all the business that would be displaced by digital cinema I think it would be surprising.

Just wondering what was behind the CC remarks, Digital Cinema in and of itself does not come across to me as a power house revenue generator for Q, and I would start a fatwah against the Q management if they suggest they could run a film distributorship or a cinema shop.

Perhaps, but nothing is "in and of itself", it is all connected. Infrastructure was a necessary stepping stone. I think Digital Cinema can pay it's own way but I also wonder what else it will lead to.

I have deferred to the wisdom of Qualcomm's management in matters that they have likely researched more than I and plan to continue doing so. That is why I invested in a company run by superior brains, so I don't have to constantly second-guess their wisdom and decision making (not that there is anything wrong with trying to do so). I think management will know when the time is right and that time is soon (2-5 years).
