<<I don't think 2 board members usually leave anywhere unless there are issues over strategy....Cannot be seen as a good sign IMHO.>>

Could be, although I've seen directors leave a board for a variety of reasons. Stock price indicates that there is something *unpleasant* going on, however.

As R pointed out, it would be nice to get some news or comments. ...Tim

There is an easy explanation: VCs want to sell the company, Nettles wants to buy more companies. It's strange to me though Nettles ousted VCs, I thought it should have been the other way around.

A question that might illuminate whether the change in the Board is
good or bad is this:

Is the second board seat likely to go to someone from Omnia, and
if so why announce BOTH resignations at the same time rather than
one-at-a-time as the new board members were announced?

I would think that the one-at-a-time approach would imply an orderly
planned transition (good), whereas the simultaneous departure implies
a less than amicable scenario (bad). The recent selling pressure
certainly indicates that latter as well.

One possible reason for a split might be that the VCs were intending
for CIENA to be acquired, and the rest of the board is (now) resigned
to forge ahead alone - being the acquirOR rather than an prospective
acquirEE. That may increase the risks beyond what the VCs were
willing to bear as well as increase the timeframe over which they
would reap their returns. That would give them good cause to
bail out in favor of new ventures, and that in turn will cause
takeover speculators to bail as well.

Yeowch. Sounds bearish (near-term) on the stock, but I remain quite
bullish on it long-term.

How soon could we know if the VCs have indeed cut their position?
