Now you know where my skepticism comes from

Slitz is still thinking he is back at IBM where you were in a position of determining the standards for so long you felt you could be circumspect about your intentions, lest the competition get the jump on the new direction you were setting before all your profitable deals were lined up.

But IBM is no longer the IBM of the 80's. And Novell does not set standards for the internet. No one is waiting for Novell's standards. No one is waiting for Novell to determine what products it will sell. They are actually waiting for Microsoft's standards. They are actually waiting for Microsoft's products. With Novell you have to prove to the market that you have the better solution. Being circumspect translates into "they don't know what they are doing" to the press.

Who does Slitz think he is hiding Novell's strategy from? Does he really think the press and the public are all waiting breathlessly for Novell to "make the announcement" about its intentions?

Get a grip.
