New VerioStore Plans Feature Integrated E-commerce Application, Web Site Hosting and Domain Name Registration, and On-line Shopping Portal
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Verio Inc. (NASDAQ:VRIO), the world's largest domain-based Web-hosting company and a leading supplier of business e-commerce services, iMALL Inc. (NASDAQ:IMAL), a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, and First Data Merchant Services Corporation (FDMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of First Data Corporation (NYSE:FDC) and one of the nation's leading providers of Internet payment processing solutions, today announced a partnership to offer complete e-commerce services to businesses. The VerioStore(TM) plans include highly integrated e-commerce applications -- bundled with Web site hosting and domain registration services -- and Web traffic generation via iMALL's Stuff.com shopping portal. "This partnership with iMall and First Data represents another significant milestone in Verio's mission of enabling companies to do businesses on the Net," said Justin L. Jaschke, Verio's chief executive officer. "This combination of the industry leading capabilities of iMall, First Data and Verio offers the most complete and easiest-to-use e-commerce solution on the market today." The VerioStore plans offer small and mid-sized businesses a complete, affordable and easy way to set up virtual storefronts on the Web. Based on the comprehensive e-commerce solution jointly developed by iMALL and FDMS, VerioStore will include on-line product catalogs, a search engine, cash register, shopping cart, shipping and sales tax calculations, on-line merchant account establishment, and a fully-integrated payment gateway. In addition, Verio's leading Web-hosting and domain name registration services are seamlessly integrated to provide businesses with true one-stop shopping for all the components of an electronic commerce-enabled Web site. Once online, VerioStore customers' merchandise will be featured on the Stuff.com shopping portal where potential customers can find and purchase their products. "The iMALL/First Data solution is an excellent complement to our existing suite of electronic commerce plans for businesses," said Buddy Cunningham, vice president of sales and marketing for Verio. "By consolidating many of the individual components of e-commerce into one package -- including the unique feature of consumer Web traffic generation -- our VerioStore plans will appeal to a broad range of business customers. These plans are ideally suited for early adopters who have existing Web stores up and running, as well as the next wave of merchants seeking to get their businesses online." Under the agreement, Verio will offer the iMall/FDMS solution as Verio's preferred e-commerce service through verio.com, select other Web sites, and its direct marketing sales forces. In addition, Verio will aggressively market the solution to its existing base of more than 200,000 hosted Web sites. iMALL will offer Verio's leading Web hosting services as its preferred hosting solution and will also provide unlimited product listings for all Verio merchants through Stuff.com. "Verio has emerged as one of the Internet's recognized leaders, most recently evidenced by its exclusive Web-hosting and e-commerce partnership with America Online," said Richard Rosenblatt, iMALL's chairman and chief executive officer. "This new partnership with Verio not only represents a significant endorsement of our strategy and service, but as Verio's preferred e-commerce solution our services will be aggressively marketed to Verio's growing base of hosted Web sites." "We are excited to be working with one of the Internet's leading e-commerce companies," said John Duncan, executive vice president, First Data Merchant Services. "Together, we look to make great strides in expanding the Internet merchant community and to continuing to strengthen First Data's momentum in this space." Old Kent Merchant Services, an alliance between Old Kent Bank and FDMS, will provide the acquiring services to merchants selecting the VerioStore plans. The value and integration of the VerioStore plans represents a new milestone for the e-commerce marketplace. For example, a sophisticated Web site developer could purchase the individual components of the VerioStore plans for approximately $5,000 with an additional $145 per month for Web-hosting services. Available in May 1999, the VerioStore plans begin at $199 per month.
