CBS Shares Move Higher On Speculation
by Angela Williams
Senior Research Analyst

The broadcast television network can expect their share price to continue to ease higher as long as investors believe the rumor that CBS Corp. (CBS) is a takeover company targeted by America Online Inc. (AOL), the No. 1 Internet services company. Although many analysts believe that an alliance between AOL and CBS makes more sense than a merger, the idea did not hinder the network company from closing 2 5/16 points higher at $44 3/16 per share on very heavy volume. Shares of AOL edged up 3/8 of a point to close at $167 5/16.
