If you're a lawyer, then we both are. Concerned not only with precedent, but trained to evaluate situations dispassionately and in the context of law, fully aware that no legal system on earth has ever or will ever prevent every possible tragedy, and trained to think situations through to the range of possible consequences and be willing to face and deal with those consequences whether we like them or not, and not pretend to our clients that we can produce consequences which the situation obviously does not permit of as possible options.
