I agree with you on Novell needing a new marketing person. I think the ideal person would be Barksdale, formerly of Netscape. But I don't think he'd take the job now.

Well let's count the number of people.

There is Slitz, there is Stone, and there is Simpson.

Which of them is new and which has the primary marketing responsibility?

It may be they need a new person with a PC Focus and a new division in the company but just getting the direction they are taking in terms of an internet strategy known and the message unified would be important.

I have no idea what the policy issues are if any and as an investor I don't care about the politics. Clearly to me Novell is a company with both an internet leadership position to win (noone is giving them the keys) and an enterprise leadership position to consolidate.

The internet area is new for them in terms of organization. So get the organization in place to win here.
