AMC,

Interesting concept. I do know about this display type store. I think of Service Merchandise and even though they stock most of the stuff on display, I never liked shopping there.

What CPU needs to do is not rocket science. They need to streamline their product offering. Get the economy of scale to a price point where they lead in the retail marketplace. This means beating Best Buy and the office chains. They buy the most so this should be at least possible. Its all about management.

I have not posted this before, because I thought it just screamed of the stupidity of the management. I live in Oakland County Michigan, and these Brain Surgeons have two CompUSA stores within 1 mile of each other. I understood the premise for buying Computer City (which BTW makes the management at CPU look like GE), but to not close one of these stores after 9 months is just foolish. No wonder why SSS are suffering. The old Computer City is eating a share of the old stores core business.

CPU should stick to consumer electronics, but have all the latest stuff. When I was looking for a palmtop or a video card they just didn't have the stuff I wanted.

I would like to start a collection so we can buy Halpin a gold plated 9mm. We could mail it to him with a note saying please use at least once.

Good Luck

Thurston
