Yeltsin's departure won't affect US food aid-USDA
WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (Reuters) - Boris Yeltsin's decision to step down as the head of Russia is not likely to have any effect on U.S. food aid to the country, a top U.S. Agriculture Department official said Monday.

``I don't think this is really going to affect things at all,' USDA General Sales Manager Richard Fritz told Reuters.

Yeltsin announced on Friday that he was resigning because he did not want to stand in the way of a strong, younger leader. Russia's prime minister, Vladimir Putin, stepped in as acting president of the country.
