<<I wonder if perhaps you could share with us your definition of "an ordinary Chinese" ? >>

It means a potential pc buyer in China. Two of my family members all got Legend pc. Bottom line is the price. And the performance is the same. After all, not many Chinsese have too much money to burn. And those who have extra money to burn, will buy IBM or even CPQ, or some Japenese brand. These are brand names, not DELL. Dell needs to do a lot of marketing in order to become a household name in China. Woops, I've forgot Dell is not interested in individual pc market in China. Too bad, the corporative and gov. agency's market are already too late to get in, especially from 1998 and the next 3-5 years when gov. agencies have to live on much much less. You think the pc price here is in a free fall. It will be worse in China, where deflation has been going on for 2 some years. A very good DVD player costs only $100 US dollars.
