The only problem with MSFT's plan is that it doesn't have a directory solution for it to run on. It's all marketing hype to get some news away from digitalme and Novell.

I don't think that SQL server + site server + transaction server + Internet Information Server + NT will handle this type of authentication in a reliable, scalable fashion for it to be anywhere near successful.

This setup will do ONE thing VERY WELL --> generate ALOT of revenue for MSFT. Other than that....I don't see MSFT's technology holding up. Let's even not mention the inherent security flaws abound in NT and IIS (their webserver) as well as in Internet Explorer.....

I've kept an eye on the W3C's work on P3P - the ideas are grand and the implementation are going to be just as grand :)
