Yes indeed volume was there and it held on to close at 19, although it was at 18 13/16 at around 3:40. I was very surprised to see it close at 19 when I seen it earlier towards the close. I thought oh shit here it is that technical 19 price point. The sell off at the end of day was not Atmel specific, I was watching LSI today and the same thing happened. This stock was very very powerful today and will not end here. As I have said before I'm not an technical chart person and I do listen to people on this thread, as they have said that 19 was a resistance point. IMHO 19 will no longer be the resistance point so what is the next point, as this stock is going up from here. Henry where did you get the news from Paine Webber and Soundview, I didn't see them on Yahoo news.

Measuring the depth of this now-broken congestion area,
next stop for ATML could be either 23 or 24 depending
on whether you use 14 or 15 as the lower end of the
congestion.

Well Turbi, that proverbial overhead resistance line seems to have been pierced, if only intraday. I agree with the general consensus that it will go higher shortly, maybe tomorrow! But it is possible to pull back first, I mean it still didn't close above 19.25 yet. For the most part there are only long term holders left posting on this board. That probably reflects the relative mix of shareholders. A high volume breakout upside day ought bring some mo chasers to this thread. Then we would be confirmed that higher is directly ahead. 30 and 40 are really high numbers, yes it could happen in your time frame, but I will much happier if I just see 20 soon. Any fundamental reasons suggested anywhere for this up volume surge ? Perhaps today's volume is just institutional kneejerking.
