>So, which is it, Mr. Murphy's personal stat tracker??

What's your point? I don't see any inconsistencies in between my 2 posts. The information that Bill noted noted sessions not users. The way that tracking software usually works is to define a session as the a set of hits from the same address within a defined period of time. Let's say that that defined period of time is 10 minutes. If you hit Bill's site as address 1.1.1.1 at 12:00, 12:02, and 12:30, that would count as 2 sessions. If you hung up, reconnected to your ISP, got a new address and reconnected as address 2.2.2.2, and hit the site at 12:31, that would count as another separate session.

There are a handful of Web Servers that all sites use. They all have the capability to log generic data such as the address that requests come from, the pages requested, etc, ... Tracking software sifts through this data and comes up with information similar to what Bill posted.

The following site describes "analog" which is a public domain software package that analyzes web access. They claim that 25% of webmasters use it. I don't know about that, but it is popular.

>Here's one of your earlier posts, as a staunch Bill Defender who has only popped up on SI after since March 7th, being dormant for what
2.5 years now???
>By the way, what is YOUR stake in all of Bill's little feifdom based upon scam and sham?

I am not a Bill defender - in fact, I have my doubts that such a conspiracy really does exist. I have pointed incorrect statements that you have made regarding cookies and have pointed out faulty conclusions that you jumped to - which are ubiquitous in your posts. Just because I pointed out a falsehood in your post that dealt with Bill doesn't mean that I am defending him. As obnoxiously as you did pose your questions, I do actually agree that some are valid questions that he should address.

Notice the difference in between how I reach conclusions and how you do. I work in the computer industry and there are misuses of cookies and you jumped to the conclusion that I must misuse cookies. However, just because you do post a bunch of inflammatory hot air, I don't assume that everything that you say is hot air. That's one you should learn.

>Fencing with you...now THAT is fun!!!

Not for me.... a waste of time.
