NN made the original deal with TeleHub in January of 1998, several months before Stratus purchase by ASND.
ROBC estimates that NN is ahead 12 months.

"Newbridge's phone-company customers want to offer a range of voice features like caller ID on a
single, efficient data network. Teaming up with TeleHub gives the Ottawa-based company software to
add those features to its data-networking switches. This could put it ahead of rivals Cisco Systems
Inc. and Ascend Communications Inc., analysts said. ''Newbridge is likely the closest to addressing this
need,'' said Paul Silverstein, an analyst at BancBoston Robertson Stephens Inc. with a ''buy'' rating on
Newbridge stock. ''It's a break for Newbridge.''

Until now, however, they weren't able to offer the voice features available on traditional phone
equipment made by Lucent Technologies Inc., Northern Telecom Ltd. and others. ''This could be the
missing link that makes ATM live up to its original promise,'' said SG Cowen & Co. analyst Jim
Kedersha, who rates Newbridge a ''strong buy.''
