I blame it mostly on a lack of education- especially history. I am no great shakes at remembering dates- but I remember the general outlines of everything I learned. My dad was a historian and a librarian and a marine before that in WWII. Because he had actually been in a war he was most cautious about war mongering. So many of the "supporters" of this war have not a clue as to the human or financial costs. Most of them probably don't even remember Vietnam very well.
